Minigrant Program

The Arkansas Science & Technology Authority Minigrant Program, funded by the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, provides $500 awards to Arkansas public middle school teachers to purchase consumable items for student hands-on experiences in science.  Teachers submit plans for hands-on student activities related to the Arkansas Department of Education Science Frameworks that require consumable materials. This year, 151 awards were made to Arkansas classrooms within the 37 counties served by the Authority Minigrant program.

STUART Grant Program

The Arkansas Science & Technology Authority (the Authority) will award 12 STUART (Science Teaching Using Audience Response Technology) awards in the 2009-2010 school year.  Funded by the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, these awards will equip 12 teams of teachers with student response systems.  The $6000 STUART award includes eInstruction's® Classroom Performance System™ (CPS™) and an Interwrite® Mobi tablet.  Remaining award funds can be used for a laptop, projector or additional CPS items.

SMART Program

The Science and Mathematics Accessible Resource Tool, SMART Portal is an online database of selected lesson plans created in an effort to improve science and mathematics instruction in Arkansas secondary schools. 

Regional Robotic Hubs

The mission of BEST™ Robotics Inc. is to inspire students to pursue careers in engineering, science, technology, and math through participation in a sports-like science- and engineering-based robotics competition.  To provide robotic activities for the students in Arkansas middle and high schools, the BEST Robotics Grant program has established five regional hubs.  These hubs provide training, equipment, and organized competitions to area schools at no cost.

 

STEM Program

The purpose of this Authority program is to enrich STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education throughout the state of Arkansas . It provides for fellowships to be awarded to school teachers in need of individualized training, supplies and curriculum enhancement assistance.

IT Career Pathways

The Information Technology Career Pathway was created as a guide for students in Arkansas to plan their career pathways from high school into Information Technology (IT) fields. The Arkansas Science and Technology Authority prepared this guide for the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation.
