Monday, Nov 19, 2007
In its fifth meeting of 2007, the Arkansas Science & Technology Authority’s (Authority) Board of Directors approved the release of funds for two new endeavors. The first is a revolutionary prototype technology that would produce renewable energy. The second is a funding allocation that will benefit both competitive and multi-university research.
The Authority awarded Harrison-based Lynndale Systems a Seed Capital Investment to develop their groundbreaking technology, a prototype called the Little Burning Biomass Furnace. This device will utilize the combustion of poultry litter as a renewable energy source. The award from the Authority totals $175,000 and will be used as working capital to develop the project.
In addition, the Board approved disbursement of funds from the Arkansas Research Matching Fund. The Board voted to allocate monies to The Arkansas Space Grant Consortium and NASA’s Research Infrastructure Development Program. The dollars provided will be used for state-wide multi-university research, competitive research, equipment purchases, student fellowships and education outreach.
In addition, new committee
assignments were approved as was the Board of Director’s meeting
